Season 42 Meta and Patch 2.2.16a Changes
Notes reviewed October 18, 2026
Patch 2.2.16 opened Season 42 (Starward Decade) on September 16. It reworks Masha into a sustained-combat Berserker and revamps Bruno. It also slows matches down so a team that falls behind can come back: jungle camps pay less base gold, minion gold grows more slowly, and bonus kill gold starts at a 1,500 gold deficit, down from 2,000. The annual map change followed on September 28, with Revealing Wisps, a Healing Turtle that pushes the enemy's strongest lane, and Golden Turrets that share more gold with the team.
The nerfs aim at the durable frontliners and sustain supports that ended Season 41 on top: Marcel, Melissa, and Miya, one of the most picked heroes. Most buffs go to junglers and EXP laners: Argus, Aldous, Lukas, Aulus, Alpha, Cici and Karina. Patch 2.2.16a (October 14) is a small follow-up. It nerfs Rafaela, Eudora and Hirara, takes back part of Aulus's buff, and buffs Kalea.

How This Tier List Works
Each hero gets a score from its ranked win rate against a 50% baseline. Then its pick rate and ban rate, as the share of drafts the hero takes part in, move the score. That draft adjustment has a cap of 1 win rate point in each direction. No hero below 53% win rate can reach S, and no hero below 50.5% can reach A.
Win rate of each tier at average draft pressure:
- S
- 54% or higher. First-pick or first-ban material.
- A
- 51.5% to 54%. Strong picks to climb with.
- B
- 49% to 51.5%. Balanced. Fine when your team needs the role.
- C
- 46.5% to 49%. Situational: a counter pick or a fit for one team plan.
- D
- Below 46.5%. The weakest heroes right now.
A tier is an average of many games. A B-tier counter pick often beats an S-tier hero in the wrong matchup, so check the counter picks before you lock in.

All Ranks dataYes. Win rates are different in each rank bracket, so a hero can be S-tier in Epic and B-tier in Mythical Glory. Use the rank filter above the grid to see the list for your rank. The lane and role lists and these answers follow the filter.
Every day. Each update reads the ranked games of the last 7 days on all servers. After a balance patch, the board shows the full effect of the patch after 7 days, when all the games in the window are on the new patch.
The heroes with the highest ban rate across all ranks are Hirara, Belerick, Eudora, Estes, Aulus. If one of them gets through the ban phase, expect a team to pick it first. The hero statistics page has the ban rate of every hero.
Patch 2.2.16 opened Season 42 on September 16. It reworks Masha, revamps Bruno, and lowers jungle and minion gold so a team that falls behind can come back. The nerfs hit Marcel, Melissa, Miya, Hanabi, Paquito, Yi Sun-shin and Sun, and most buffs go to the EXP lane and jungle. The annual map change followed on September 28.
