MPL ID Season 17 begins on March 27, 2026, and this might be the most interesting off-season Indonesian MLBB has seen since the Omega vs RRQ era. Cross-regional transfers, a two-time world champion arriving mid-season, and a former champion scrapping half its roster just to stay relevant. Nine teams, one trophy.
Here is the full breakdown.
#The Teams and Rosters
ONIC Esports
The defending narrative favorite. ONIC enters S17 with the most talked-about roster in the region, and that conversation starts and ends with one name: Kelra.
Duane "Kelra" Pillas left ONIC Philippines after four seasons to join ONIC Indonesia, teaming up with Kairi in what is arguably the most loaded jungler-gold lane duo in MPL right now. The "Filipino Sniper" nickname follows him everywhere, and it is earned. His ability to win lane and force early resource allocation from opponents is a problem for every team in this field.
The rest of the core holds. Kairi at jungle, Sanz at mid, Lutpiii on EXP. Calvin "CW" Winata transitions from player to head coach, bringing championship IQ into the dugout. Samuel and Kiboy provide rotational depth at roamer.
ONIC ID S17 Roster:
- Jungler: Kairi
- Gold Lane: Kelra
- Mid Lane: Sanz
- EXP Lane: Lutpiii
- Roamer: Kiboy / Samuel
- Head Coach: CW
Three carry threats. Flexible roaming. A head coach who played through ONIC's dominant era. On paper, this is the most complete lineup in the league.
EVOS Esports
EVOS enters S17 with Alberttt back as the anchor and the biggest mid-season signing in the entire league: Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel, two-time M-Series world champion (M2 with Bren, M5 with AP.Bren), on loan from Team Falcons PH. He starts from Week 2.
That detail matters. EVOS goes into Week 1 with Treacky as the primary mid. The moment Pheww steps in, the team's ceiling rises substantially. A world champion with championship composure playing alongside Alberttt's aggressive jungle style is not something opposing teams can just draft around.
EVOS S17 Roster:
- Jungler: Alberttt
- Gold Lane: Erlann
- Mid Lane: Pheww (Week 2+) / Treacky
- EXP Lane: Luke / Veldora
- Roamer: EgaTzy / Kyy
- Head Coach: Vyn
The concern is timing. Chemistry with a loan player mid-season is never guaranteed, and EVOS has a history of looking good on paper and inconsistent on stage. Alberttt is the difference-maker who can cover those gaps.
RRQ Hoshi
RRQ missed the playoffs last season. That alone was enough to trigger a major overhaul.
The headline addition is Super Kenn, officially announced on January 28, 2026. Kenneth Marcello was born December 28, 2006, which means he was just 14 when Bigetron first signed him as a trainee. His stint with DianFengYaoGuai in China, where he helped the team qualify for MSC 2025 and M7, proved he can perform in pressure environments outside Indonesia.
RRQ also brings in Dan Nathaniel Yambao, a young Filipino EXP laner from RRQ Kaito. Rinz and Idok stay at mid and roamer respectively. Toyy holds the gold lane.
RRQ Hoshi S17 Roster:
- Jungler: Super Kenn
- Gold Lane: Toyy / Kuroky
- Mid Lane: Rinz / Ezekiel
- EXP Lane: Dan
- Roamer: Idok
- Head Coach: Khezcute
The question is whether a team with this many new faces can build enough synergy in time. Super Kenn has the ceiling. Rinz at mid has shown flashes. But RRQ needs a full system, not individual performances, to get back into playoff contention.
Alter Ego
Alter Ego finished as runners-up at M7 World Championship. They are coming into S17 with a chip on their shoulder and arguably the deepest positional flexibility of any team in the league.
Two junglers. Two mid laners. The ability to run different strategic identities depending on matchup. Head coach Xepher, former TNC Pro Team professional player, adds tactical credibility to an already experienced lineup.
Yazukee anchors the jungle role. Hijumee and Cyrus give them options at mid. Nino on EXP and Alekk at roamer complete the core five.
Alter Ego S17 Roster:
- Jungler: Yazukee / Rey
- Gold Lane: Arfy
- Mid Lane: Hijumee / Cyrus
- EXP Lane: Nino
- Roamer: Alekk
- Head Coach: Xepher
The M7 run built this team's confidence. They know they can compete on a world stage. The question is whether that translates back into a domestic grind where opponents have had months to study their drafts.

Bigetron by Vitality
Bigetron entered S17 after losing Super Kenn to RRQ, but the roster that remains is not weak. Nnael at jungle, Shogun and Lynch on EXP, Moreno at mid, and Finn as roamer.
Depth is a real strength here. Ryza and Clive give Bigetron extra gold lane and mid lane options. Head coach Theonael keeps the system organized.
Bigetron S17 Roster:
- Jungler: Nnael
- Gold Lane: Emann / Clive
- Mid Lane: Moreno / Ryza
- EXP Lane: Shogun / Lynch
- Roamer: Finn
- Head Coach: Theonael
Bigetron's consistent problem has been making deep playoff runs. They have the roster to finish top four. Whether they can close out a best-of-five against ONIC or EVOS remains their annual challenge.
Dewa United Esports
Three Filipino imports on a single roster. Dewa United brought in Qinn, Kayn, and head coach Right, giving them a blend of local and cross-regional perspective.
Two roamers, two junglers. Dolyn and Kayn rotate at jungle, Muezza and Itoshi Kesu at roamer. Maybe handles gold lane, Octa holds mid.
Dewa United S17 Roster:
- Jungler: Dolyn / Kayn
- Gold Lane: Maybe
- Mid Lane: Octa
- EXP Lane: Qinn
- Roamer: Muezza / Itoshi Kesu
- Head Coach: Right
Dewa United is the dark horse. The foreign import infusion gives them a different strategic perspective, and their depth at high-variance roles means they can adapt mid-series. They are the team most likely to upset a top-three side on the wrong week.
Team Liquid ID
Liquid brings the tightest five-man core in the field. No redundant alternatives, no rotation chaos. Aran on EXP, Drichel at mid, Kevin in jungle, Kyou on gold, Lyon as roamer. Head coach Honjaw provides the structure.
Team Liquid ID S17 Roster:
- Jungler: Kevin
- Gold Lane: Kyou
- Mid Lane: Drichel
- EXP Lane: Aran
- Roamer: Lyon
- Head Coach: Honjaw
What Team Liquid ID loses in positional depth, they gain in defined roles and cleaner communication. A team that knows its identity heading into the regular season has an edge when the schedule gets congested. Do not sleep on them as a playoffs dark horse.
Geek Fam
Geek Fam's identity has always been speed and early-game aggression. That does not change this season. Maykids handles jungle. Kenzyskie at gold, Aboy at mid, Baloyskie as roamer. Ye3 and Marcel alternate on EXP.
Geek Fam S17 Roster:
- Jungler: Maykids
- Gold Lane: Kenzyskie
- Mid Lane: Aboy
- EXP Lane: Ye3 / Marcel
- Roamer: Baloyskie
Geek Fam's ceiling is top four on the right meta. Their weakness is mid-game objective control when their early leads stall. If the S17 meta favors sustained fights over early snowballs, they will have a difficult regular season.
Natus Vincere (NaVi)
NaVi is the wild card. Andoryu at jungle, Aphro at roamer, Uk1r at mid, Kars on EXP, and Xyve or Zeon at gold lane. Head coach Ynot rounds out the staff.
NaVi S17 Roster:
- Jungler: Andoryu
- Gold Lane: Xyve / Zeon
- Mid Lane: Uk1r
- EXP Lane: Kars
- Roamer: Aphro
- Head Coach: Ynot
NaVi is still building their identity in the Indonesian scene. They have the infrastructure of a globally recognized organization. Whether that translates into MPL results is something we find out over nine weeks of regular season play.
#Key Storylines to Watch
The Kelra Experiment. Moving from MPL PH to MPL ID is not just a region switch, it is a pace switch. The meta cycles differently. The draft philosophies differ. Kelra has the mechanics to adjust. The test is how quickly he adapts alongside Kairi, who has his own dominant style.
Pheww's Timing. A two-time world champion entering mid-season is either a genius move or a chemistry bomb. EVOS needs Week 1 to survive before Pheww arrives in Week 2. If they drop early series, the season could already be compromised before their biggest weapon steps in.
RRQ's Rebuild. Missing the playoffs was a statement season for a team that has one of the biggest fanbases in Southeast Asian esports. Super Kenn's youth and upside are exciting. But young junglers in high-pressure environments can swing wildly between brilliant and passive. RRQ needs him to be consistent, not spectacular.
Alter Ego's Hunger. M7 runners-up coming into a domestic season is a motivational advantage no roster sheet captures. They know exactly what losing a world final feels like. That is a powerful driver for a team that already has the talent.

#My Predictions
Title Contenders: ONIC ID and Alter Ego are the two teams I see meeting in the Grand Finals. ONIC has the superior individual talent floor. Alter Ego has the strategic flexibility and the chip from M7.
Semifinals: EVOS gets there once Pheww settles in. Bigetron earns the fourth spot through consistency, not flash.
Dark Horse: Dewa United. Three Filipino imports integrated into an Indonesian system creates an unpredictability that teams can struggle to scout and prepare for.
Playoff Bubble: RRQ Hoshi and Team Liquid ID are fighting for the last two spots. Both teams need chemistry to form fast.
Regular Season Prediction: ONIC ID finishes first. Alter Ego second. EVOS third.
The regular season runs March 27 to May 22. Nine weeks. Thirty-six weeks of MPL Indonesia history means nothing when the draft sheet goes up on Friday night at the Arena. The rosters look good. Now the games have to match.
